Tofino
Crowning the Esowista Peninsula, Tofino is a traditional west coast fishing
village but becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination. Blessed
with fine white-sand beaches and spectacular vistas over the islands of Clayoquot
Sound, Tofino is located in the heart of the UNESCO Clayoquot Biosphere Reserve.
It found a place on the international map after the logging blockades of the
early 1990s - the largest display of civil disobedience in Canadian history.
Today, it offers world-class activities, arts, accommodation and cuisine.
